Google Unveils Googlebook with Gemini Intelligence Tech Features

Google just dropped something big. On May 12, 2026, during its Android Show event, Googlebook with Gemini intelligence, a brand-new laptop category built entirely around Gemini, its flagship AI. According to NewzPop, this isn’t just a Chromebook with a new outfit. It’s a whole different direction.

What is the Googlebook all about?

Google unveils the Googlebook as its new line of laptops built around Gemini, Google’s flagship AI model family. The company says it’s the first laptop designed from the ground up around Gemini to offer personal and proactive help.

Think of it this way, most laptops run software, then you figure out the AI part separately. Googlebook flips that. Gemini is baked in from day one, at the core of everything you do.

Googlebook runs software built on a foundation that combines Android and ChromeOS. So, it takes the best of both worlds and merges them into one machine.

What is the Magic Pointer and why does it matter?

This is the feature everyone’s talking about. And honestly, it’s pretty clever.

It starts with the cursor. For being the most often used tool on your laptop, it really hasn’t seen much change since the right-click was added. Google changed that with Magic Pointer, built with the Google DeepMind team, bringing Gemini right to your fingertips. Just wiggle your cursor and watch it come alive with Gemini, with quick contextual suggestions every time you point at something on your screen.

Point at a date in an email, and it offers to set up a meeting. Select two images, say your living room and a new couch, and it visualizes them together. No switching apps, no copying text, no extra steps.

It lets you go from idea to done in just a few clicks. That’s the idea anyway.

What is “Create Your Widget” on Googlebook?

Google is also introducing the “Create your Widget” to Googlebooks. You can now create custom widgets by prompting Gemini. Gemini can search the internet or connect to your Google apps like Gmail and Calendar to create a personalized dashboard.

Say you’re planning a trip to somewhere. Gemini can organize your flight and hotel details, restaurant reservations, and even a countdown in a single spot on your desktop, making your desktop a truly personalized home.

So instead of opening 6 different tabs, everything sits right there. It sounds small until you realize how much time you spend doing exactly that.

How does Googlebook with Gemini intelligence work with your Android phone?

This part is genuinely useful for anyone who switches between their phone and laptop constantly.

“Cast My Apps” will allow you to access any application on the laptop’s bigger screen and “Quick Access” lets you browse the files on your phone and insert them on your laptop, no transfers needed.

So, if you’re deep in work on your laptop and need a file from your phone, you don’t touch the phone. You just pull it from the file browser directly. That’s a real workflow improvement, not just a marketing bullet point.

Who is actually making these laptops?

Who is actually making these laptops?

Google isn’t building them alone. The tech giant is working with leading laptop makers like Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, and Lenovo to make the first Googlebooks in a variety of shapes and sizes.

Each one will have a “Glowbar” on the lid, making it instantly recognizable as a Googlebook. Google calls it both functional and beautiful. What it actually does, the company hasn’t said yet.

No pricing announced either.

Is this replacing the Chromebook?

Sort of, but Google won’t say that directly. The Googlebook with Gemini intelligence comes 15 years after Google introduced the Chromebook, the affordable browser-based laptop. A Google spokesperson confirmed the company plans to continue supporting current Chromebook users, with devices receiving updates through their existing support commitments.

So, Chromebooks aren’t dead. But Googlebook with Gemini intelligence is clearly the future Google is betting on.

When will Google launch Googlebook with Gemini intelligence?

The first Googlebook is set to hit the market later this year, in fall 2026. More details, including pricing and full hardware specs, are coming before the launch date. Keep an eye on googlebook.com for updates.

Final thoughts

Google unveils Googlebook with Gemini intelligence at exactly the right moment. Microsoft is pushing Copilot, PCs, Apple dropped the MacBook Neo, and now Google’s stepping into the premium laptop space with Gemini at the wheel.
