It’s official now. Apple has decided to discontinue Mac Pro.
On March 26, 2026, Apple verified to 9to5Mac that the Mac Pro is being discontinued. It has been taken down from Apple’s website. However, it only takes you to the Mac homepage in general. If you visit the page now. No Mac Pro anywhere. No farewell communication. Nothing.
Apple has verified that it has no plans to offer unborn Mac Pro tackle. So this isn’t a” we are taking a break” situation.
For people who noway bought one, perhaps this does not feel like big news. But for a lot of creative professionals — videotape editors, music directors, scientists, 3D artists this is kind of a big deal. The Mac Pro was more than just a computer, it was the device professionals depended on. The bone that sat in your office like it possessed the room.
The original Mac Pro, an Intel-based replacement for the power pc based Mac G5, was introduced by Apple in August 2006. That first Mac Pro had what people hypercritically called the” rubbish grater” design. Big, cubical, tableware, with a bunch of holes on the front. Technically, it wasn’t enough. But it was serious. And it worked.
The classic Mac Pro continued to admit updates with faster Intel processors and other spec bumps until 2012. During those times, professionals could open up the machine, exchange corridor, add storehouse, add plate cards, add RAM. It was a proper workstation.
From Bold Designs to Missed Expectations:
In 2013, Mac Pro arrived with a unified thermal core and a polished, spherical design.It looked like commodity from a wisdom fabrication movie. Slim, black, Globular. People either loved the look or abominated it. But the bigger problem was what was inside — or what wasn’t. Apple latterly admitted that it was thermally constrained, and it had poor upgradeability. Rather than internal places, Apple pushed expansion via six erected- in Thunderbolt 2 anchorages.
Professionals weren’t happy. This wasn’t the Mac Pro they knew. For many users, this situation already hinted at discontinue MAC Pro, even if it wasn’t official yet.
Apple conceded its design mistake in 2017, but took two further times to release the third- generation Mac Pro. In December 2019, it launched a third- generation Mac Pro. It came with an aluminium case. The outer shell could be lifted off easily. This gave users full 360-degree access to the entire system.
The Mac Pro entered its M- series update in 2023, featuring the important M2 Ultra chip. That was the last update it ever got.

The Mac Pro was sitting at$ 6,999 — nearly seven thousand bones while a lower, cheaper machine from Apple was formerly running a newer, briskly chip. That does not make sense for buyers.
At this point, discontinue Mac Pro also feels expected. Apple is keeping things simple now. It’s focusing on its own powerful chips instead of old modular setups. The Mac Studio does almost everything most professionals need. It’s smaller. It’s cheaper. It has newer chips. Apple principally made the Mac Pro obsolete with its own products.

For professionals needing high PCIe expandability, this is a setback. maximum expandability via PCIe places, the termination represents a loss. Some may even switch to Windows workstations.
End of a period, But Not the End of the Mac.
The Legacy That Will Be Remembered
Discontinue MAC Pro marks the end of a long chapter in Apple’s History. It was Apple’s statement that it watched about professionals who do heavy, serious work.
Beforehand in its run, the Mac Pro was the choice of professionals who demanded further processing power, fresh RAM, brisk internal storage, and support for multiple displays. It was the machine that made creative work possible in a professional position.
March has been an incredibly busy month for Apple, with the company unveiling further than 10 new products and accessories. We saw the launch of the MacBook Neo this month, and now we’re bidding farewell to the Mac Pro.
One door opens, one door closes. The Mac Pro had a good run. Twenty times is a long time in tech. Most products do not indeed survive five.
